This was a refurbished item. Was not in original packaging but was well packaged and looked like new. All the hardware needed for installation was included and scanning the QR code worked me step by step through setup and install. The only potential glitch I had was one of the batteries was loose. I just used a small screwdriver to bend the negative terminal out somewhat .Camera and doorbell work perfectly and I connected to the existing doorbell wiring as per instructions.

Easy installation. Good quality video. Overall, this is a great budget friendly device. The only reason I give it 4 instead of 5 stars, is the battery life. Burns through AA lithium batteries pretty quickly. I still believe the product is well worth the price.

5 stars so my review gets noticed. The camera quality is just okay. Microphones are pretty good.Camera always misses the actual movement that set it off and starts recording about 4 seconds later. Looks like people appear out of thin air on the camera. Camera will sense movement as people approach the door but only begins recording after they have left, or will appear as though they just materialized out of thin air on the top step.If somebody vandalizes your door or steals a package from you, you will not see it on the camera. It will only start recording after the event has happened that the person is gone, leaving you with dozens of videos of an empty stoop.THIS IS NOT A FREE SERVICE. IF YOU DON’T PAY A SUBSCRIPTION, YOUR CAMERA WILL STOP WORKING. All of their ads say that you can use basic features without a subscription plan- this is not true. Your camera will stop taking videos after 2 months. The subscription is $10/month.Might be a cute camera system to watch your dog on, or chat with your friendly neighbor when you aren’t home. However, if you are purchasing this for security reasons: pay the extra dime for a better brand. It is not worth the subscription costs to capture dozens of videos of an empty porch AFTER somebody has swiped your packages and walked away.

I bought the first on in 2023 — it worked for about 2 years, so no complains, although I hated to change the batteries so often — they did not last 2 years but about 4 months (MAYBE they would have lasted 1 year if all you wanted was the doorbell, but then why buy a video doorbell)One day it simply stopped working, but after two years not big deal, so I bought another one and connected to the power supply and to my surprise, the blink doorbell still need the batteries — that is right, even when you attach it to the previous doorbell wiring, you still have to add the batteries. The time to change the batteries, came at the standard 4 months, I cannot get it to connect again.red/blue (or both when resetting) the blink doorbell does not connect.I tried taking the batteries out, resetting, the blinking red light come on still nothing….tech support said maybe I got a bad unit…we can replace it…oh no sorry, you are out of warranty…Beware — this is uselessUpdate 3/11/2024Soon after the above, I called customer support again about the “hub” because I deleted the system to create a new one, and again could not connect it.I went through every trick, except the one that would make it work. So, when I told CS about it, they asked a few basic questions to trouble shoot and none work (turn it off and on a few times), so they proceed to ask for the serial number…of course out of warranty, but they were quick to offer the newer version (that happened to be on sale)–really?I am somewhat disappointed on the quality, sure they are correct in pointing out that I am out of warranty, still disappointed though.

This doorbell is easy to install both physically and to use the app. It worked so well that I’ve ordered another one to put on the side door. I feel that if anyone is thinking of breaking in or checking to see if anyone is home, the fact that it is a video doorbell will discourage anyone from trying to case your home.

The camera works great. Has good clarity. The only thing I don’t like is the fact you have to “ARM” the system in order for it to work. This device should notify you when it’s “ARMED or DISARMED”. Example: If your at home and don’t need your system armed and your waiting on a pizza delivery, FedEx, UPS, or a neighbor to come over, they can ring the doorbell and you’ll never know if someone’s at your door unless you ARM the system. The work around is to buy another SYNC Module at $35 to put it on its own and keep it ARMED. Seems a little redundant. I know, real world problems?

I bought this to replace a Blink doorbell camera that had stopped detecting movement.I was initially confused with this new camera, as the mounting bracket is significantly different from my older Blink doorbell camera, but otherwise looked identical. At first I could find no way to connect this to my existing mount. However, in the box, under the camera, is a box containing a new mounting bracket. Once I replaced the old mounting bracket with the new one, it installed perfectly. This new camera has a battery compartment door, which significantly increases the protection for the batteries from the elements. Also, the mounting bracket is better designed, and less likely to break – no more thin plastic tabs to break and render your camera useless if you try to remove the camera to replace the batteries. The other thing that changed is the wiring for the doorbell/permanent power. The older mount you connected directly to screw terminals on the mounting bracket. This new version has a connector and wiring nuts to connect to the doorbell wiring – probably more in-line with building or electrical code.Since installing this camera is has worked flawlessly. You have to run through a procedure in the app to have it use permanent power, but once done it is nice not to have to replace expensive lithium AA batteries every couple months.

I have been trying for hours since it was delivered this morning (amazing delivery btw) to figure out how to connect to the blink app. I’ve tried troubleshooting and connecting manually. I am considering returning this product and my outdoor camera i didn’t even open yet due to the doorbell camera not even working..

I was a little concerned about a “refurbished” doorbell, but it looks and works like new. The only issue I had is it seems to be focused high. I shimmed it but it still is focused upward. A minor concern that can be corrected.
