No programming involved. I had to replace the original remote because it completely stopped working (and yes I replaced batteries and tested multiple batteries). I have had the replacement or 2 months and works fine. I just have to make sure it’s not too far away.

The original Hisense remote that this replaced had Netflix, Hulu, Roku Channel, and Vudu for hotkeys, so when I saw that this replacement had 4 hotkeys for channels the average person actually uses, I knew it was a must buy.On top of that, the IR codes this sends are much improved over the original. The TV is more responsive and the buttons don’t turn on my fan like the original would do (overlapping IR codes, I guess).The buttons themselves use a better feeling rubber and seem a bit sturdier. Time will tell, but it doesn’t seem like the silkscreened labels will rub off as easily as the original ones did.The only slight negative I can see is that the plastic seems like it might get banged up quicker than the original, so I’d definitely recommend ordering a case with this and putting it on immediately.

Overall, this is a great replacement and requires no setup. Put the batteries in and you are good to go. It is similar to the original ROKU remote with 2 exceptions – the shortcut keys and the moon key. I prefer these shortcut keys and the moon key actually takes you directly to the sleep timer instead of going through the options (*) menu. After reading other reviews, I’ll say this – The mute key is slightly closer to the down volume key versus the original, but even with my larger hands, I don’t find it to be an issue. While, the remote is lighter than the original even with the batteries installed, the keys are solid with no wiggle. I will definitely be picking up another one.

This remote works great with my Roku TV. Once you put the batteries in, it starts working immediately. No need to sync or reconfigure!

I took one star off because 1) the mute button on the side of the remote is a bit too close to the lower volume button causing inadvertent mutes 2) it feel cheap meaning the buttons are “loose” in there moorings and overall feel is just “rattly”.Otherwise it works as expected.

Just pop in a couple batteries and it’s good to go. No pairing, no fuss.It looks exactly the same as the original remote that came with my Roku tv. That one worked for a long time without any trouble. Actually, it still works, just the battery cover doesn’t stay on, because I dropped it one too many times. The thirty dollar replacement I got from the Roku store was a battery-guzzling, short-lived dud. So back to happy basics!

I bought this for my tcl with built in roku, and I didn’t have to program it as stated in the details. But time to time it doesn’t respond. I would push buttons but the command wouldn’t go through. If I remove the batteries and plug them back in the remote starts working just fine. That’s my only issue. The built in short cuts work perfectly.

Decent quality, no extra set up, popped in the batteries and it worked just that quick with my TCL roku TV. Has to be pointed at tv, doesn’t bother me but wish it were like my kids where I can point it anywhere. All in all good faith priced purchase.
