I recently purchased my second NETGEAR 5-Port Gigabit Ethernet Unmanaged Switch (GS305) to add ports to my growing number of connected devices. While it may not have the bells and whistles of more advanced switches, it serves its purpose well as a basic networking solution. The installation process was a breeze; I plugged in the power adapter and connected my devices using Ethernet cables. The switch immediately recognized the devices, and I experienced a noticeable improvement in network speeds versus WiFi connection speeds. The compact design of the GS305 is a plus, taking up minimal space, aand its metal casing gives it a sturdy feel. The indicator lights on the front provide clear information about the status of each port. While it lacks advanced management options, the simplicity of the GS305 is an advantage if you prefer a plug-and-play solution without dealing with complex configurations. In conclusion, the NETGEAR 5-Port Gigabit Ethernet Unmanaged Switch (GS305) is a reliable and straightforward networking solution for users who seek a no-frills approach. While it may not boast advanced features, it serves its purpose well for those looking for a simple and effective way to expand their home or small office network.

Literally plug and play. Took it out of the box, plugged it in and it worked with no signal loss. Small, and fit the area I needed. Quality built and does not have a cheap feel.

Don’t have much to say; this is a commodity appliance, which means I expect it to be affordable and to work. And it succeeds in both. Amazon had it on sale, which helped, but it wasn’t very expensive even at regular price. For where I live, Amazon could supply it in the same day, which is awesome. It’s very easy to set up. You have to have an electrical outlet nearby to power this device, but once you’ve done that, you just plug in an Ethernet cable from your data port to any of the ports on the switch, then you have four remaining ports to plug any of your devices into. Wired beats WiFi speeds easily and now my laptop is able to use that in addition to my desktop. It took about two minutes to install and that was because I had to spend a minute rearranging some items in the area to make room for the switch. It’s also solidly built and nicely compact. Good job NetGear, this is just what I needed.

It’s a small office / home office switch, so setup is as simple as plugging in power and network cables. Zero problems – no glitches at all so far. No lock-ups. No negative impact to my network speeds. Happy user!

TLDR: Affordable, easy-to-set-up NetGear switch, ideal for enhancing home network speed. 💻🔌🚀In the world of essential home networking, I recently got my hands on this NetGear switch. Let’s just say, it’s the epitome of what a commodity appliance should be: straightforward, cost-effective, and gets the job done. The deal on Amazon was the cherry on top, making it even more wallet-friendly. And talk about convenience – same-day delivery had me feeling like I’d hit the express lane of tech shopping.Setting it up was a walk in the park. Just find an electrical outlet, plug the switch in, and then connect an Ethernet cable from the data port to the switch. Voila! You’ve got four extra ports at your disposal. It’s like giving your home network a shot of adrenaline. In terms of performance, wired connections are in a league of their own, leaving Wi-Fi in the dust. Now, both my laptop and desktop are enjoying the fast lane of internet speeds. The whole setup process was a two-minute affair – the most time-consuming part was just making some room on my desk. The build quality is reassuring – sturdy and compact, it’s like NetGear knows we don’t need another bulky gadget hogging space. In short, if you’re looking to boost your home network without any fuss or breaking the bank, this NetGear switch is a no-brainer. It’s a small investment for a significant upgrade in speed and connectivity.

I needed to expand my current switch when I added a new Raspberry Pi 5 to my computing playpen. The choice was to get an 8 port or daisy chain another 5 port. The daisy chain solution seems to be working. Note, I am not particularly concerned with thru-put as I am just playing around. However, it was cost effective (making my wife happy) and simple to install. YMMV

I needed an extra ethernet port. I purchased this unit, plugged it into power, hooked it up to my router, plugged ethernet cords into two ports (new device and the one I disconnected from the router), and I was done. No issues, no settings to adjust. It’s as simple as plug and go!Six months later it works just fine.I switched my wifi laser printer to ethernet and plugged it in too. Print jobs start almost instantly instead of taking time to transfer, that’s pretty nice. I realize that might not work in every office but my printer sits adjacent to the printer so the clutter factor is minimal. That’s just another plus to having more ports to use.

Seems to be sturdy and well made. Using it to split signal to two Ethernet cables. Works fine. What more is there to say.

Excellent product. Using it for my SMART TV and set top box. Though an adapter is required due to it being shipped from the US.
