This recorder/converter works very well. If I could give it 10 stars, I would. It is very simple to convert a cassette to MP3. And once that is completed, (if you want) you can take the SD card out of the converter, use the USB adapter that is supplied, put the SD card in it, plug it into your computer, and copy the files to your computer (as a form of backup in case something happens to the SD card). And, if you don’t want the music file that is on the converter when you receive it, simply delete it from the SD card while you have the SD card in the computer.The cassette tapes that I converted to MP3 were purchased in the late 80s, and the music on them was no longer available in any other form. So this converter allows me to continue listening to the music on the tapes (via MP3 files on the SD card) without fear of the tapes breaking.I also converted several CDs to the MP3 format by using Windows Media Player. Then I copied these files onto the SD card. Once the SD card was back in the converter, I could listen to the music on the CDs via the converter.Even though the name of the song or tape does not show up in the converter’s window, the converted cassette tape or song number does, and that allows me to forward to the number of the tape or song that I want to listen to.The converter’s fairly long play life means I don’t have to recharge it as often. Also, I can listen to the music while the converter is being charged. And I like being able to listen to the music with or without headsets as there is a built-in speaker.The 16 GB SD card has plenty of space for all the music that I would want to put on it.Hopefully this product will last a long time.Disadvantages besides the song name not showing in the converter’s window:The chargeable battery is built in, so it cannot be taken out and replaced if it goes bad.The manual, while helpful, needs to be edited by a person who has English as their first language.

It took so little time to understand how to use this player/recorder. It not only transfers cassettes to Micro SD cards, but also records any sounds wherever you may be. Tracks are numbered in the file and it is easy to move around to any track you choose. This has just been plain fun to use. Playback is immediate, and you can practice a variety of methods to record until you find what works best for you. The internal Mic works beautifully, and the speaker is loud enough for me (with a hearing loss). I may order a couple more. This will make a great gift. I got a good belly laugh with the note in the box, “Unhappy you feel-Don’t worry baby, you have our words”. This is a very well made product. It can serve other uses besides cassette transfers. I don’t regret the purchase at all. I highly recommend this reasonably priced product.

Only just started using this transfer device today. I purchased it to transfer my favorite cassettes to MP3, to load on my laptop and on an MP3 player for my car. I did not plan to use it as a listening device; however, it picks up radio very well and the speaker is good for that. The sound is not the best quality for actually playing the cassettes and it made an intermittent high pitched squeal when playing some of them during recording (as reported by other reviews). I’m glad to report that this did NOT affect recording to MP3 (I tested every song I recorded on every tape on my laptop). The MP3 recordings sounded VERY good.Sadly, a few of my cassettes had deteriorated, so could not play back or couldn’t play back well enough to transfer – NOT the fault of this transfer device.So, I can recommend this as a transfer device for cassettes to MP3 with very good quality sound and for the radio, but not really for good playback sound via the speakers.

My husband had over 30 cassettes that needed to be converted to MP3. It was music that is not available anymore. I took a chance on buying this unit to do the transfer job. Wow, it works great. So easy to convert and then transfer to the cloud. The unit stopped working a couple of days after we received it so we contacted the company through the included customer support email address. They responded within hours of sending the email. We told them what happened and they sent a whole new unit. It ended up being the SD card, not the unit itself. We are very pleased with this purchase and highly recommend if you need to convert old cassettes to MP3 or if you just want to play your old cassettes. It works great!

This tape player/recorder is a piece of junk. I selected it because I thought it would be higher quality than similar lower priced tape players. Multiple things were wrong with it; some were defects, and some were just poor design. The playback speed was slightly too fast, making voices higher in pitch than normal. The headphone jack didn’t work right…with earbuds plugged in correctly, the sound alternated between the earbuds and the speaker every few seconds. I could get it to go only through the earbuds if I pulled the plug out a bit, but then lost stereo in the process (sound was only in one ear). The tape buttons — play, rewind and fast forward — were installed and/or labeled backwards or upside down (see the photo). The SD card came pre-loaded with music (or the unit was returned with someone’s music on the card), which would play automatically as soon as the power button was turned on or when the Stop button was pushed, which was super annoying. There is no window to see if the tape is playing, rewinding or fast forwarding. and given that the buttons and/or labels are backwards or upside down, it’s hard to guess which way the tape is going. I returned this item the very next day.

This recorder is easy to use and was at a great price point to give new life to a bunch of old but excellent OTR cassettes and books on tape. Very few bells and whistles but has worked perfectly so far. It came with a 16gb micro SD card and a good quality USB drive to transfer recordings to the computer. Battery life is quite decent as well even while recording. The controls aren’t exactly intuitive but they aren’t bad either and as long as you follow the instructions it’s a breeze to use. My only big wish would be that it have auto stop for fast forward and rewind but it doesn’t. It does have auto stop for play mode though so it’s not a huge deal, especially for the price point. If you’re looking to transfer your old cassette tapes into the digital world and aren’t especially picky about a bunch of bells and whistles, this works great, has decent build quality and has very acceptable sound quality. Sucks having to do the transfers in real time but there’s no other way with tapes and with the auto stop in play mode, at least you can walk away from it and just flip or change tapes as your time allows, you don’t have to sit with it. The display screen has a real time digital counter while the cassette is playing so you can gauge when you’re towards the end of the tape as well. Getting to use it as an MP3 player with a speaker will be an added bonus later on.

It works fine, but no matter how low you set the volume, the audio is very high, and quite tinny. Lacks a lot of the bass notes, and picks up way too much of the cymbals and high noises.

Was skeptical about purchasing a device that could convert cassettes to digital, but decided to try it out since I still have quite a few cassettes with recordings that would be impossible to duplicate otherwise (i.e., radio broadcasts, educational courses, books on tape that are no longer available, etc.).I have already converted three cassettes to mp3 format, and I’m pleased with the results.The converter is simple and easy to use, and the buttons are largely self explanatory. The manual is OK, as the instructions are translated from Chinese to English and lose a bit of correct syntax or translation, but overall understandable.The 16GB micro card comes with a pair of test songs, which is helpful when setting up and learning the features. The card is large enough to hold a number of conversions, although I only convert one cassette at a time, and then transfer the conversion to my computer and erase the card before converting another.The only drawback I’ve found is that I can only convert one side of a cassette at a time; so each cassette ends up having two mp3s (i.e., Side A and Side B). It would be nice if the pause feature allowed you to turn the cassette over and continue recording so you could get the whole cassette on one mp3. However, you cannot open the cassette door in “record” mode, and once you stop recording, the next time you press record, a new mp3 is created.The sound quality is decent, but of course depends largely on your speakers (i.e., the computer speaker is tinny, but using a wireless bluetooth speaker sounds much better). I’ve found that the mp3 sound is pretty much an exact duplicate of the original cassette sound.I’m also glad that I can now listen to my recordings in my new car which does not have a cassette or CD player, but has USB ports which accommodate zip drives to connect to the sound system.

This is a cassette player (not recorder) that copies the cassette music to a micro sd card (included) which you then plug into your PC (micro sd card to USB-A adapter included) and store the music on your computer in MP3 format. But there is no way to automatically separate the songs into individual computer/MP3 files.I found the instruction sheet included confusing. I cannot determine which button to press to stop the SD card recording while to tape is still playing to make separate MP3 files.Customer Service responded to my e-mail question within 1 day, but the answer was still not clear (English as a second language and I do not speak Chinese).I will use this device to copy my old cassette collection to my PC, then I might use an audio editing program to separate the tracks and add song title to each track.Low cost, so good value for what it does.

I used this to listen to very old cassette tapes my late Daddy had in the attic. It works great, is compact, and rechargeable.I’m not sure if I received a used one or they all come wish sd cards with music already on them.I just wish it came with better instructions. I still don’t understand haw to do everything I want, but it plays my cassettes well.
