Have been using this amp for over a year now, still sounds great,as others have said the gain control is useless except I just set it and use my iPod as the volume.I’m using it in my jeep with 2 6×9’s and two tweeters (tweeters run on one channel) so I have an extra channel, am going to buy a Pyle amp next week to complete.Overall I’d say that for the cost $50 at the time. It is great, straight forward and just plain works.

For the price, I’m really not sure you can beat it. Have it installed in a radio cooler, running 2 – 5 1/4″ and 2 – 6″x9″ speakers. Crank up the volume and you will be quite surprised. Does it have enough power to blow the speakers? No…and you shouldn’t expect that. For what it’s designed for, it does the job quite well.Only issue I have had with it so far is the “gain control knob” pulled off of the shaft it sits on. No big deal, nothing a little superglue couldn’t fix. It could have also been my fault as to why it came off…so that’s why I am not dropping a star.

Purchased this amplifier in conjunction with Infinity Marine grade speakers to build an ATV audio tube. Since this is a 4 channel amp and i am running only 2 speakers, I bridged the amp to get more power. What i found was that there was too much power, so i un-bridged it and it still has adequate power. Very clear crisp little amplifier in a compact package. It does get pretty hot, but that’s to be expected with anything in a compact package. I suppose the aluminum heat sink enclosure does the trick.

OK, so first impressions:*It’s. Tiny.*It’s neatly wired.*It has a very solid feel to it.I was looking for a small amp to drive the component speakers, the requirements were that I didn’t want to run big gauge cables and deal with a traditional amp in my car. This fit into a space *under* the dash. Close enough to the radio that I didn’t need to run more speaker wire to tap into the stock wiring. So it allowed me a neat and clean installation.I have a few complaints, the fuse housing on the power lead. IT’S HUGE. Working in the confined space under the dash was made far more difficult thanks to its placement so close to the amp. The power, antenna, and ground wires are too short. I wanted another 6 inches on them through the entire install. Because they were short it took a lot of work to get the tools into the space after it was mounted to crimp wire butts.Aside from that it sounds good. Not as bassey as one would hope, but that’s not what it was for really. I don’t think it’s actually 100w RMS, if I were guessing I’d say it’s closer to 33w or so. Which is fine. The Kenwood media deck I’m using is gutless at the best of times so this gave it the oomph I was looking for.Given that its economic and small I’d recommend this for anyone with an underpowered deck pushing anything beyond stock. Though my mazdas stock 25w speakers sounded fine with it too. YMMV.

This amp will do well for most applications, especially the water resistant (NOT fully submersible) ones. Unfortunately like many amp manufacturers Pyle has chosen to exaggerate the amp’s wattage rating beyond all reason. This amp (like many other low end auto and motorcycle amps) is built on the Toshiba TA8210AHQ amplifier chip. In this case the amp has two chips with each servicing two channels. According to Toshiba this chip is rated at 22 watts per channel at 18 volts. At your average car voltage levels (12-14 or so) it will deliver less. There is no voltage boosting stage which would be required to anything deliver more than about 40 Watts bridged into 4 ohms and the TA8210 isn’t rated for bridging anyway.Note: The technical details posted on this unit as of 7/18/10 are also apparently for some other device. This unit has no AA batteries or USB connection. Some other technical details are inaccurate: The documentation does not mention the unit as bridgable and the chip documentation doesn’t either. It IS 2 ohm stable according to the Pyle documentation (a correction). Some elements are barely technically correct: The distortion is only correct at very low power levels and if the unit is providing 22w it is doing it at 10%THD. Frequency response is 20hz – 20k not 10hz – 20kNet recommendation: A good unit for marine, motorcycles and where you don’t have space. Not as good as it’s specs, but most low end amps are using the exact same chip and circuit design with different housings anyway.

Well I bought one a few months back for my yamaha v star and thought it did a great job at a cheap price so I thought I would try it on my harley while adding some 2 ohm upgraded speakers to my fairing. Well so far I am not at all disappointed, I believe if you ran this amp wide open it will destroy your speakers unless they are 200 watt rms. My speakers are 100 watt rms and I have to dial the amp back a bit. The amp will also get hot if you overdrive it, wide open gain and wide open volume, but it has never failed. For under 50 bucks there is no way you can beat this deal. It really does sound great and will drive four channels equally. It also comes with a 3.5mm stereo jack insert you can mount on your bike in your fairing, and the amp external volume control you can also mount on your fairing. Its not really meant to be a volume control, but a gain control that you should set and leave it be. control your volume on your radio. I just can’t say enough good things about this amp for that price. I would buy it again and again. Have two now.

Nice little amp to add to your system.
Nice little amp. Added it to my Teryx with four wale tower speakers and it’s pretty good. Was running the speakers off the head unit before…the amp made a big difference.

I bought this because the inbuilt amplifier in my head …
I bought this because the inbuilt amplifier in my head unit shut down. What I found it tht the sound is punchier, more open and musical than the inbuilt chipsets claiming to be the same output power.Quality is high and the inclusion of much of the cabling makes for a simple installation.

Nowhere near rating
This “amp” if you will call it that is half as loud as a 15 year old clarion deck. 100watts per channel is the biggest joke. The whole amp runs on a 10 amp fuse if that tells you how useless it is

Not what it says on the tin
NOT a 4 x 100w rms amp. It’s likely a 100w rms amp which is split over 4 channels, so actually a 4 x 25w amp. It’s a bit disappointing but then again you get what you pay for, especially with audio products.Pretty good build quality, does what I need it to do (just).
