It works well and is accurate as factory set for one cylinder engines. Remember to remove the clear plastic battery insulating tape or it will not work at all. The accuracy instructions, as others have noted, refers to 1/2 speed, 1/4 speed to adjust for number of cylinders (2, 4, and so on). If you wrap around one plug wire on 4 cylinder engine, tachometer will show 1/4 the actual RPM. Directions show how to adjust for # of cylinders, or maybe try a coil wire wrap. Just me but 3M and other make some great double sided tapes; may want to put a couple of tape layers down or otherwise isolate vibration.

Nice, cheap but effective RPM meter. Very easy to use and actuate when doing field adjustments to small engines. Works well with single cylinder or twin gas engines.

I looked at some similar hour meters, but read that some were sealed with a non-replaceable battery. I thought that was not so good as batteries do have a limited life. When I read that this one has a replaceable battery, I decided that this one was the one i wanted.I installed it on a Generac iX2000 inverter generator. While I have not heavily used this generator, Generac does have specified maintenance intervals. Since I did not want to keep a log book of how long I have been running the generator, I wanted to add an hour meter. When this one came, I first had to find a place to mount it. It needs a flat surface that will not get too hot, of which there are limited options. There is not space on the control panel that would not be blocking information or limiting access to the outlets. I opted to install it on the side, to the right of the access panel for access to the oil fill/drain plug and fuel filters. I moved the label that had the start/stop instructions as that was the only suitable flat place I could find. This is not ideal as the angle means it is a little harder to see. I drilled a hole just big enough for the wire to pass through and routed the wire up and over to get to the spark plug wire. I used both wire ties provided to secure the device wire to the spark plug wire after wrapping it and since there was about two feet of excess wire, cut the excess length off.When I started the generator, the display started showing the RPM reading. Since I have no way of verifying, I am guessing that the RPM reading is correct as it is running about 3600 RPM with the eco mode turned off. When I stopped the generator, that is when the hours appeared. Display hours are visible when the engine is not running. I have not set the maintenance interval hours yet, but the instructions are pretty clear on how to do so. There is no back lighting for the LCD display so if it is dark, a flashlight may be needed to read the display. Because there is no back light, the battery should last longer, up to a claimed 6-9 years depending on whether the display is turned off when not in active use.The instructions state that the meter should not be operated in the rain. This is the same as the instructions for the generator. While the meter is IP65 splash proof, it does not claim to be waterproof. With proper care, this meter looks like it will last a long time, at least as long as the generator.

The one big let down with this product is the lack of documentation in the box.It was rather frustrating to have to look at the listing to find the settings for my motorcycleThat aside, so far it’s working well and confirmed accurate (installed on a 1980 yamaha SR250 exciter)Another option that would be helpful is direct 12v power so on a key circuit it can be powered from the charging circuit on whatever machine it’s installed on (provided it has a charging system)None of the instructions available are very clear and that’s a little frustrating not knowing if the sensor lead can be cut to fit (rolling it up and stuffing it out of the way will negatively impact its functionality) so for now I have this long loop of wire around the gas tank that looks rather stupidOverall with pros and cons it’s a good little tachometer with room for improvement

Maybe I haven’t played with it enough, but I can’t seem to get it to go to the hours display while the engine is running. It just stays on RPM’s the whole time. Also hours are displayed the whole time it is NOT running, which makes me think batteries might not last long. Probably would be better to have a sleep mode for the display where you push a button to wake the display up.I bought the pair set but have only installed one so far, but it is working and the time keeping seems accurate. RPM’s are off by 200 at idle after setting it at the recommended wraps of wire the directions said, but I haven’t gotten around to messing with that to see if I can get it closer. I verified the rpm discrepancy with a Fluke meter.

A didferrnza di altri si azzera, potete scegliere il promemoria della manutenzionene se vedere sempre il conta ore al posto del conta giri o vedere le ore solo a macchina spenta..ad ora nn ho davvero nulla da volere in più!
