I loooove my birdie! I have not had to use it, fortunately, but keeping it in my fanny pack when I am out has made me feel so safe and protected. I put it in a crossbody Fanny pack in the front zipper, and have practiced taking it out quickly so that I could do so in an emergency. It is quite loud, so much so that I tested it muffled in my hand when I got it and it was still very, very loud. As long as there are people somewhat near you, someone would hear your alarm for sure. I personally will carry something in addition to the birdie, as it would be useless if I am in a parking lot that there is no one nearby, or even for a walk along a trail without anyone around. I haven’t had any major issues with it going off by accident, except one time when I had dropped my Fanny pack, somehow the two pieces had come apart and it had set it off in the house by accident, which was quite loud and startling. The two pieces can come apart fairly easily (an obviously beneficial feature for an emergency), but I am cautious with how it sits in my Fanny pack so that it can’t be pulled apart by accident.

Highly recommend – loud alarm, easy to use, bright flashing light. Light, can attach easily to purse strap, etc.

I have purchased three of these and I really like the idea of the Birdie! The light that flashes at a good brightness. It is easy to carry and use. I keep one in my car and another on my night stand. It is easy to pull the tab and easy to push the tab back into place. My only complaint is how loud it is. I feel like it really does needs to be louder. If you pull it while you are in a car it is a very faint noise outside of the car. I would like the noise to be quite a bit louder or have the option to turn the sound up louder.

I got this for my 13 yr old daughter to keep on her backpack for while she’s walking to and from the bus. It makes me feel better when she’s not with me. Simple and sturdy enough for her to use and loud enough to draw plenty of attention. I didn’t realize there was a newer version until after I’d purchased this so look into that if you’d like the model with location and call for help features. I will likely get that one for her once she starts spending more time away from parents.

These units appear to be top-quality, versatile, and rugged. The units also are attractive and compact, so do not distract whether worn on a backpack, purse, or belt. They are more expensive than competitors, which is a consideration.

I bought these as a stocking stuffer for my two daughters, they are 11 and 13 years old. I bought the black color for both of them to add to their backpacks. I feel that they are very discreet and easy to use. There is no assembly and they are ready to use right out of the box. I showed my girls how to activate the alarm within seconds, so they are extremely easy for children to use. This day in age, I feel like we can never be too cautious with our children. The alarm is very loud and the blinking lights that go off with the alarm are very bright as well. To set off the alarm, you just pull out the top of the Birdie and to reset the alarm, you just replace the top back in place. It is very simple and gives me a little piece of mind with my daughters having these alarms easily accessible to them.

I like this device all except the ring that holds it on to your purse. The ring comes loose and falls off. I had to glue the ring to the threads so it doesnt fall off again. It is a loud device. Easy to use.

I like this item because it is discrete and non-bulky, easy to carry around. It’s about as loud as a car alarm so hopefully it’s enough to catch an attacker off guard and allow time to get away in case the need ever arises. I have practiced engaging it as suggested and it doesn’t seem as though it would go off accidentally. The only thing I do not know is if the battery is replaceable or not. I did not see any mention of it with the instructions

I love this thing! I work throughout the city and sometimes not in the best neighborhoods. I don’t leave home without this around my neck. It’s easy to use and less of a hassle to aim than pepper spray. I think more employers with customer-facing employees should invest in these for their entire team.
