Works as it should. This worked extraordinarily well in my car as I had a factory insert of my dash that this fit perfectly into. Helped hide the ugly cord from draping over my dash and left a clean install.

Wiring was just about 1″ short to allow an install in my XT5 as I wanted. the velcro pad supplied with it for mounting has very weak adhesive and I will have to reapply later on. Other than that, it functions as designed and looks good in the vehicle.

Super easy install. They even send an add a fuse for ease of install into your fuse box. Just mount, run wires to fuse box and hookup with an add a fuse and your all set. Literally took 20 min to install and my car was a little bit of a pain to run the wires so could be a faster i install in most other vehicles

Perfect kit to hard wire your uniden detector. I paired mine with an Add-a-Fuse Kit to avoid splicing into the factory harness and retain a clean install. Works great!

Like that I was able to hardwire the uniden and be able to have access to the mute button in a different location than the radar or cigarette plug. What I wasn’t a fan of is the quality of the included wire taps that came with it. There are better ones available that are still plenty cheap. The ground wire wasn’t even considered for a wire tap (expecting you to mount with a screw based on the end piece). To solve the ground wire issue and keep it clean, the wires I tapped into, i locates a ground wire and used my own tap. Lastly, I wish they had given a little more length to the phone/power cord. I was fortunate to make it work with about 6inches left over; however, I chose not to hard wire into the courtesy lamps/map lamps common just above the rear view mirror; as I would have had to splice longer power and ground wires to place the mute button in a location of my choice. I spliced into wires under the dash and ran the phone power cord behind everything (use zip ties to keep it clean and secured to factory pre-run wiring) and then ran the cord up along the “A-trim” and then just inside the headliner to end right at the rear view mirror, where my Uniden is mounted. For what it’s worth, this is still a very viable solution for hard wiring in your uniden. No more unplugging the power cord to open up a power source for charging other electronics. It looks clean without having wires dangling from the windshield in front of the radio/vents, etc. This is the best option Uniden offers right now for hardwiring your detector in. The price is quite comparable to what you get in the kit. It’d recommend it to anyone who wants to hardwire their detector and forego the coiled factory power plug.

It works, plenty of wire for a long run. Does a better job than those mirror taps.

I somehow snapped off the little tab end of the 12v cable that came included with my R7, so my cable would need to be taped to the detector to stay in.While I could have purchased a new RJ11 plug, I never liked that the cable was short, and would have to be in the middle of my windshield. There were aftermarket 12v cables available, but I couldn’t find any of them with a mute button, which I really like and use often.I was able to purchase this through Warehouse Deals for about $23, and attached it to a simple 12v pigtail plug so that I didn’t need to hardwire it. The cable length is amazing, and I like that the mute button can be placed anywhere that’s easy to reach.

I have used many kits to hard wire my radar detector. The weakest point in all the ones I have used, is the sturdiness of the cord and the modular plug. I have had a few instances where the radar mount has dislodged from the windshield and when this does, the wire is ripped from the plug. I didn’t really need the cigarette lighter adapter or the remote mute function. The suction mount is the same as the original and works better than the regular flimsy ones, however it’s not full proof. I just wanted the cable for how it is constructed to the modular plug. It has fallen once since install with no issues at all. Pricy for just the cable but very happy with the construction.

    Nice addition
I bought two of these this for the R8 one for the bike, one for the car. I disliked having the power cable dangling from the mirror to the 12V plug. Nice clean installation. I actually hid mute/alert box as I didn’t need it in the vehicle. It is useful though on the bike because of my riding position, I cannot see the display on the unit.

Price of kit should include all pieces – missing fuse tap
The kit should include all pieces with he price it is. Had to purchase a fuse tap. Easy to install and hide the wires. Price is a bit high for what you get. Otherwise good product and decent quality.
